Amy Motomura is an associate in the patent group in Morrison & Foerster’s Palo Alto office, where her practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, portfolio strategy, and IP due diligence for medical device and life science companies.

Ms. Motomura received her J.D. from Stanford Law School, where she served as a notes editor for the Stanford Law Review and received the Jay M. Spears Award for outstanding service to the journal. She also received the Stanford Law School 2012 Intellectual Property Writing Award and served as an editor for the Stanford Technology Law Review.

Prior to law school, Ms. Motomura earned an M.S. in Bioengineering from Stanford University and was the recipient of a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. She received her B.S.E., summa cum laude, in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University. She has conducted research in areas including optical coherence tomography, small animal radiotherapy, and functional magnetic resonance imaging.
