Ms. O’Neill regularly counsels clients in all areas of consumer protection law, including online and offline privacy issues; advertising in all media; all forms of communications and direct marketing (including interest based advertising, email, SMS, telemarketing, fax advertising, and direct mail); marketing through social media; mobile, online and offline tracking and personalization; and sweepstakes and other promotions. She also provides advice on compliance with state and federal privacy laws, including the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Act and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Ms. O’Neill assists clients with the creation of compliance programs for the laws regulating the collection, use for marketing and other purposes, and disclosure of personal information. She drafts and advises on privacy policies, online service terms of use, agreements involving marketing practices, and agreements concerning data use and list management. In addition, Ms. O’Neill conducts privacy due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.

Ms. O’Neill previously served as a staff attorney in the FTC’s New York regional office, where she investigated violations of federal consumer protection law. She is recommended by Legal 500 US 2014 in the areas of data protection and privacy and marketing and advertising.

Before attending law school, Ms. O’Neill was a Peace Corps volunteer in The Gambia, West Africa.
