Marc Young is the chair of the firm's global Real Estate Group.  His practice covers a broad range of real estate transactions, with a particular emphasis on real estate lending and loan workouts and restructurings.

Mr. Young has represented borrowers and lenders in connection with the origination, servicing and restructuring of all types of real estate-related financings, including loans secured by multiple properties, hotel financings, syndicated loans, subordinate and mezzanine financings, unsecured credit facilities, securitized debt, construction loans, and preferred equity transactions.

Mr. Young regularly advises clients in connection with distressed loans and preferred equity investments, including with respect to workout and restructuring options, intercreditor issues, sales and remedies. Mr. Young's finance clients include real estate investment banks, commercial banks, capital companies, mortgage REITs, and opportunity funds.

He has represented numerous buyers and sellers in connection with the purchase and sale of different types of real property, including commercial office buildings, industrial properties, hotels, large residential properties, and unimproved land. Mr. Young has advised clients in a number of portfolio sales and acquisitions. He represents both tenants and landlords in connection with the negotiation and documentation of commercial leases, and he has represented owners and contractors in the review and negotiation of construction-related contracts.

Mr. Young has developed special expertise in the purchase, sale, financing and operation of energy projects. He has represented both buyers and sellers of electric generating facilities and other energy facilities, including fuel pipelines, and has participated in significant domestic and international energy-related project finance transactions. He also has advised owners of energy facilities in contractual matters relating to the ongoing operation of energy projects, including counseling clients regarding power purchase agreements, fuel supply agreements, steam supply agreements, operations and maintenance agreements and energy-related engineering, procurement, and construction contracts.

Mr. Young is a member of the California State Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
