MoFo News Item

Morrison & Foerster advised security software company Mykonos Software in a rapidly moving sale to Juniper Networks, completed on February 13, 2012, with the parties announcing the approximately $80 million deal, on the eve of the RSA conference 2012, on February 22, 2012.

Corporate partner William Choe led the deal team, with Palo Alto corporate associates Mike Krigbaum, Tom Anderson, Patrick Fischer and Evan Klarich. The following specialists represented Mykonos in the following matters, respectively: San Francisco partner Tessa Schwartz and San Francisco associate Brian Ito on intellectual property matters; Palo Alto partner Mike Frank and Palo Alto associate Ali Nardali on employee benefit and executive compensation matters; San Francisco associate Michelle Jewett on tax matters; and Palo Alto partner Christine Lyon on employment matters.

The deal has received considerable press and industry buzz, and it has been touted as one of the more interesting strategic purchases of the year in the networking space. Mykonos develops technology designed to secure websites and web applications from advanced hacker attacks.

"It's not often that we're this enthusiastic about an acquisition, but this is one of those times where we see a very differentiated product being snatched up quickly," 451 Group reported in its analysis of the deal.
