Ruti Smithline is an associate in the Litigation Department of Morrison & Foerster's New York office and a member of the Securities Litigation, Enforcement, and White-Collar Practice Group. Her cases include a variety of litigation issues, with a focus on white-collar criminal defense, SEC enforcement matters, securities litigation, and corporate internal investigations. Ms. Smithline is a member of the firm's FCPA + Anti-Corruption Task Force and has also advised clients on FCPA compliance programs.
Ms. Smithline has represented individual and corporate defendants in criminal investigations, SEC enforcement matters, and False Claims Act and other regulatory proceedings and has experience conducting corporate internal investigations both domestically and internationally.
Ms. Smithline received her J.D. from The George Washington University School of Law in 2002, where she graduated with honors and as a member of the Order of the Coif. She also received the Westlaw Publishing Family Law Award for outstanding work in a clinical course. She received her B.A. degree, cum laude , from Cornell University in 1999. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Ms. Smithline was a litigation associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel.
Ms. Smithline is a native Spanish speaker and serves on the Public Service Committee of the Federal Bar Council. She is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey.
