Chambers Global Awards
Chambers Global named Morrison & Foerster its 2013 USA Law Firm of the Year. “The US-based global giant,” the editors said in announcing the honor, “has experienced one of the most successful years in its long and illustrious history.”
Chambers Asia-Pacific Awards
The
Chambers Asia-Pacific Awards named Morrison & Foerster the 2013 Japan International Firm of the Year. This is the second time in the past three years that MoFo has won this prestigious honor.
Chambers USA Awards
Recognizing the firm’s numerous noteworthy Intellectual Property and Business Restructuring and Insolvency matters across “another extraordinary year,” MoFo was named Intellectual Property Firm of the Year and Bankruptcy Firm of the Year at the 2013
Chambers USA Awards for Excellence. The firm tied with two others for the most total awards.
The American Lawyer
Morrison & Foerster won two
American Lawyer Global Legal Awards - Global M&A Deal of the Year and Global Finance Deal of the Year. This is the inaugural year for these awards. In addition, one of our lawyers was named a 2012 “Dealmaker of the Year.”
Asian Legal Business
Asian Legal Business (
ALB) honored Morrison & Foerster with four awards at its annual Japan Law Awards ceremony: International Deal Firm of the Year; IP Law Firm of the Year; Litigation Specialist Law Firm of the Year (for the second year in a row); and TMT Deal of the Year. We were shortlisted in 18 additional categories.
Asian-MENA Counsel
Asian-MENA Counsel honored Morrison & Foerster with three 2012 Deal of the Year awards. The winning deals were selected for their uniqueness, innovation, size and complexity.
Euromoney Women in Law
Euromoney has named four Morrison & Forester lawyers as leaders in their respective practice areas at the 2013 Americas Women in Business Law Awards. In addition, MoFo was shortlisted for six firm awards, including Best in the U.S. Northeast, Best in the U.S. West, Best Gender Diversity Initiative by an International Law Firm, Best International Firm for Work-Life Balance, Best International Firm for Pro Bono Work and Best International Firm for Women in Business Law.

Law360 honored Morrison & Foerster with seven 2012 Practice Group of the Year Awards – more than any other firm. The selected practices were Appellate, Bankruptcy, Employment, Intellectual Property, Mergers & Acquisitions, Privacy & Consumer Protection and Project Finance.
M&A Advisor
M&A Advisor named Morrison & Foerster Law Firm of the Year and Tokyo partner Ken Siegel Legal Advisor of the Year at its 5th Annual International M&A Awards. MoFo also won two Deals of the Year awards.
At the 2012 M&A Advisor Awards, Morrison & Foerster was honored in three categories, including Financial Services Deal of the Year and Debt Financing of the Year. In 2010 and 2011, the organization named MoFo the U.S. Law Firm of the Year.
Main Justice
Main Justice recognized Morrison & Foerster in its 2013 Best FCPA Lawyers Client Service Awards. The awards highlight exceptional service in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and global anti-corruption matters.

Managing IP honored Morrison & Foerster with three awards at its North America Awards.

In its May 2013 issue, Morrison & Foerster was recognized as one of the top 10 law firms on
The American’s Lawyer’s annual Diversity Scorecard. MoFo has been ranked among the top 10 law firms for overall diversity every year since 2005.

In 2013, Morrison & Foerster’s Litigation practice received national recommendations in the areas of Appellate, General Commercial, Intellectual Property, Product Liability and Securities Litigation.
Best Lawyers in America
Best Lawyers in America has named 143 Morrison & Foerster lawyers from the firm’s U.S. offices to its 2014 directory. In addition, MoFo is the top-listed firm in 64 categories and five lawyers have been named Lawyers of the Year.
BTI Consulting
In BTI Consulting Group’s 2013 Brand Elite survey MoFo stands out on three lists: Brand Elite, Movers & Shakers and Best Brand Builders. The organization has also named MoFo on the Client Service A-Team list for 11 consecutive years. The Boston-based research company and management consulting firm bases its surveys on interviews with hundreds of corporate counsel at Fortune 1000 companies.
Chambers Global
Chambers Global recognized Morrison & Foerster with 37 practice rankings and 40 lawyer rankings in its 2013 edition. Among other highlights, the firm continues to:
- Have more lawyers ranked for U.S. Intellectual Property than any other firm;
- Have more lawyers ranked for U.S. Privacy & Data security than any other firm;and
- To be the only international firm ranked Band 1 for Japan M&A.
Chambers Asia-Pacific
Chambers Asia-Pacific recognized Morrison & Foerster with 26 practice rankings and 62 lawyer rankings in its 2013 edition. In Japan, we again have more Band 1 practice rankings and more Band 1 (or higher) leading individuals than any other international firm. We also continue to be the only Band 1-ranked firm for Japan: International: Corporate/M&A and for Japan: International: Real Estate.

Chambers UK ranked Morrison & Foerster among the UK’s leading practices in six areas in its 2013 guide.
Chambers USA
In the 2013 guide, the firm earned 50 practice area rankings – seven in Band 1 - and 105 lawyer rankings – 17 as a “Star” or in Band 1.
Corporate Board Member
Corporate Board Member magazine named Morrison & Foerster to its annual list of America’s Best Corporate Law Firms. MoFo was named to both the magazine’s top 25 rankings, one that surveyed general counsel and the other that surveyed officers and directors.
The Daily Journal
The
Daily Journal named nine Morrison & Foerster partners to its annual list of California’s top intellectual property lawyers. The list is divided into two segments, comprised of 75 litigators and 25 portfolio managers. In 2013 MoFo had five litigators and four portfolio managers selected.
Financial Times
In the 2012 edition of the
Financial Times “U.S. Innovative Lawyer Report,” client feedback placed MoFo in the FT Law 25 – a list of the most innovative firms in the United States. The firm also appeared in two of the report’s specific categories: Business of Law (for FrankNDodd™, our Dodd-Frank Act resource) and Finance (recognizing our “innovative lawyering” in assisting the Royal Bank of Canada with the first ever SEC registered offering of covered bonds).
Global Competition Review
Global Competition Review named Morrison & Foerster Washington D.C.’s antitrust practice as one of the “top teams working in the hub of antitrust law.”
In the November 2012 issue of
Global Competition Review, MoFo was recognized in a competition bar survey as one of only four international firms leading the Japanese competition law market.
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation
Morrison & Foerster has once again been given a perfect rating by The Human Rights Campaign Foundation on its 2013 Corporate Equity Index reflecting the firm’s ongoing commitment to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Equality. MoFo has received a perfect score every year since 2003.

Managing Intellectual Property
Managing Intellectual Property (
MIP) ranked Morrison & Foerster as a leading U.S. Copyright firm in its 2013 Copyright Survey. In its 2013 Patent Survey,
MIP highlighted MoFo in the United States patent prosecution, patent contentious, bio life sciences and ITC categories, as well as the China and Japan patent categories. In its 2013 Trade Mark Survey,
MIP ranked MoFo in the U.S. and Japan trademark contentious categories.
The National Law Journal
In 2013,
The National Law Journal named Morrison & Foerster to its second annual Intellectual Property Hot List of 20 firms that “demonstrated creative, formidable talent in litigation, patent prosecution and deal-making.” MoFo was included in the inaugural list as well.
U.S. News & World Report/Best Lawyers
In the third edition of
U.S. News - Best Lawyers “Best Law Firms” MoFo placed in the top five, out of more than 10,000 firms, for total number of first-tier nationwide rankings. MoFo has ranked in the top 10 every year. The firm’s count of tier-one rankings makes it number one in California, San Francisco, Financial Services Regulation Law, Information Technology Law and Patent Litigation. It also took top honors as “Law Firm of the Year” in Information Technology and Banking & Finance Law.
Vault
For the second year in a row, Morrison & Foerster has been ranked as the top law firm in Northern California by leading legal career intelligence web site Vault.com. Vault also named MoFo the top firm in the United States for technology and clean technology/renewable energy.
In addition, the 2014 edition of Vault Law 100 ranked Morrison & Foerster as a Top 25 law firm for the third year in a row in its annual list of Top 100 law firms in the United States. Since the inception of the rankings in 1997, MoFo has consistently ranked among the top firms nationally.
