Teresa Summers is an associate in the Litigation Department of Morrison & Foerster's Tokyo office. Ms. Summers assists clients in patent litigation, licensing, as well as FDA-related litigation and counseling. Her patent practice focuses on biomedical sciences, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, satellite telecommunications, consumer electronics, and computer hardware and software. Her FDA-related practice focuses on the Hatch-Waxman Act and ANDA litigation.

Ms. Summers also has extensive experience in ITC Section 337 litigation. Ms. Summers represented complainants Funai Electric and Funai Corporation in Certain Digital Television Products and Certain Products Containing Same and Methods of Using Same, Inv. No. 337-TA-617, and Sharp Corporation in Certain Liquid Crystal Display Modules, Products Containing Same, and Methods for Using the Same, No. 337-TA-634.

Ms. Summers received her B.S. in Biology/Biomedical Engineering from the University of California in June 1992, and her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center, magna cum laude, in May 2003 where she was elected Order of the Coif. During law school, she was active in the Georgetown Law Journal and received the Cleon Robbin Patent Award, ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in Intellectual Property Law, and the Cali Award. Ms. Summers has published numerous articles, including authoring “The Scope of Utility in the Twenty-First Century: New Guidance for Gene-Related Patents” and co-authoring “Database Legislation: Changing Technologies Require Revised Laws” and “Medicare Act Increases Risk of Declaratory Judgment Actions Against Innovators.”
