General

The AI Act establishes harmonized rules for placing on the market, putting into service, and using artificial intelligence systems (“AI Systems”) in the European Union. It prohibits certain AI practices and establishes specific requirements for high-risk AI Systems and operators of such systems, rules on market monitoring, market surveillance governance and enforcement, and measures to support innovation, with a particular focus on SMEs, including start-ups.

The Netherland's Ministry of Economic affairs released this guidance to help organizations understand their responsibilities under the EU AI Act. The guidance details obligations for general purpose AI models, high risk AI systems, data protection safeguards and transparency standards.

Building AI literacy (October 2025)

Guidance published by the Netherlands' data protection authority explaining the steps that organizations can take to ensure sufficient AI literacy – in particular, the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding of the technical functioning of AI systems, as well as their social, ethical and practical aspects.
