Artificial Intelligence Companion Models (HB 7350 / SB 2195)

This law creates safety features for AI companion technology that include addressing suicidal Ideation, potential physical harm or financial harm to others expressed by a user. It also requires notification that the AI companion does not have human emotions.

Elections

The following law applies in the context of elections in Rhode Island

Deceptive and Fraudulent Synthetic Media in Election Communications (S 0816 / H 5872

This law prohibits, within 90 days of an election, the distribution of deceptive and fraudulent synthetic media, unless the image, audio recording, or video recording includes a disclosure stating that the image has been manipulated or generated by AI.

Health
Oversight Of Artificial Intelligence Technology In Mental Health Care Act (HB 7349 / SB 2197)

This law establishes regulations regarding the use of AI in mental health care treatments.

Use Of AI by Healthcare Providers Notification Act (HB 7538 / SB 2570)

This law requires healthcare providers and healthcare facilities to inform patients of the use of AI to memorialize patient visits.
