Video Spotlight: Leading the Way
The development of our diverse lawyers is critical to their success. That is why we encourage our lawyers to participate in development opportunities, both within and outside of the firm.
The Diversity Strategy Committee works closely with senior lawyers to cultivate and promote a culture of sponsorship and partners with the Women's Strategy Committee on firmwide sponsorship activities.
The Steering Committees of both the Diversity and Women’s Strategy Committees meet with practice group heads periodically to ensure high-performing diverse and women senior associates have partner champions within their groups to support each associate's growth and development.
Leadership Council on Legal Diversity
MoFo is a long-standing participant of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). Founded in 2011, LCLD focuses on developing attorneys who are committed to promoting diversity within their professional communities. Fellows are immersed in a year-long leadership development program.
To date, MoFo has had eight LCLD fellows: Alexis Amezcua, Chris Ford, Tritia Murata, Eric Pai, Purvi Patel, Sylvia Rivera, Alfredo Silva, and Eric Tate.
Our LGBT lawyers across the firm actively participate in Out Leadership, a global advisory organization dedicated to driving LGBT equality and creating business opportunities for emerging leaders.
We encourage our “rising star” LGBT attorneys to participate in the OutNEXT Global and regional summits; which includes multi-day leadership development trainings designed specifically for the next generation of LGBT leaders.
In 2015, New York litigation associate Katie Viggiani was a member of the winning team at OutNEXT’s social justice hackathon. The team project focused on providing homeless LGBT youth with LGBT-friendly housing and counseling resources through partnerships with public libraries, schools, community centers, businesses, and search engines.
