Abby Burrus focuses her work on patent drafting and prosecution for companies in the life sciences industry.

Prior to joining MoFo, Abby earned her Ph.D. in organismic and evolutionary biology from Harvard University. As a doctoral researcher, she examined the evolution, development, and molecular control of plant glands and produced interdisciplinary analyses in plant research. She was a teaching fellow for classes covering biodiversity, plant evolution, cellular biology, and molecular medicine. While at Harvard, Abby also served as a business development fellow in the Office of Technology Development, where she advised Harvard clients on market research, potential licensees, patent prior art searches, and potential market applications in life sciences patents.

Abby received her B.S. in biology, summa cum laude, from Salem College, North Carolina.
