Annie Lee is an associate in Morrison Foerster’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group.

Annie has litigated a wide range of technology cases, with a focus on intellectual property and Internet law. She is driven to understand new technologies and what matters most to her clients to find practical solutions for their legal needs.

On the patent side, Annie has litigated cases involving monoclonal antibodies, single-cell sequencing, robotic-assisted surgical platforms, non-invasive prenatal testing, mRNA vaccines, video game rendering, and web and mobile programming. Annie has also litigated important Internet copyright disputes for social networks and other online platforms. Among her recent accomplishments, Annie secured a motion to dismiss claims against Instagram’s embedding feature in Hunley v. Instagram. Annie also drafted and filed an amicus brief on behalf of technology companies concerned about the scope of the CFAA in Van Buren v. United States, earning two citations by the Supreme Court.

Annie was formerly an associate of Durie Tangri LLP. Annie received a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where she served as a supervising editor for the California Law Review and on the board of Women of Berkeley Law. During law school, she externed for Judge Haywood S. Gilliam at the U.S. District Court for the District of Northern California.

Prior to law school, Annie was an automation engineer at Counsyl, a reproductive genetic testing startup, where her team developed and launched an automated cell-free DNA extraction system.

Annie received a B.S. in biomedical engineering with an emphasis in electrical engineering, from the University of Southern California, where she received a Trustee Scholarship.

Annie is licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
