Austin Schnell is a trial lawyer who focuses his practice on intellectual property disputes.

Austin litigates patent disputes involving a diverse mix of technologies, including semiconductors, software, and oilfield equipment, among others.

Austin leverages his intimate understanding of the U.S. federal judiciary in Texas forums—including two of the nation’s top patent courts, the Western District and Eastern District of Texas—to help clients navigate proceedings in an efficient and effective manner. Austin has clerked and interned in the Western, Eastern, and Northern Districts of Texas, for Judges Alan Albright, Michael Truncale, Amos Mazzant, and David Horan and draws upon those experiences to offer clients unique, practical insight in these go-to courts.

In addition to his proficiency in the judiciary, Austin has assisted with proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, including inter partes review trials.

Austin obtained his J.D. cum laude from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, where he served as President of the International Law Review Association. During law school, Austin also clerked at the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. He holds dual B.A.s in Public Policy and in Political Science and a B.S. in Economics with Financial Applications.
