Brian Edmunds is an attorney in Morrison Foerster’s Complex Litigation + Advisement group. He develops litigation strategies, advises clients, and engages in all aspects of defense of product liability litigation.

Brian has extensive trial and appellate experience, particularly in government enforcement litigation and high stakes product liability defense. From 2016 to 2025, he served as the senior assistant attorney general for opioids enforcement for the State of Maryland, where he was one of the leading litigators on the government side in national opioids litigation, contributing to the recovery of billions of dollars for state and local governments throughout the U.S. Brian also formerly served as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice, where he represented the U.S. government in litigation in federal trial and appellate courts.

Brian previously represented a leading U.S. tobacco manufacturer in trial and appellate litigation in federal and state courts across the country. Brian has also maintained an extensive pro bono practice, achieving significant litigation victories for victims of race and disability discrimination, among others.

Brian earned his law degree, cum laude, from New York University and his Bachelor of Arts, with honors, from Rutgers University. During law school, Brian was an extern for then-Judge Sonia Sotomayor at the Second Circuit.
