Cristina Lai is a patent agent in Morrison Foerster’s Patent Practice, where she specializes in patent prosecution for cutting-edge technologies including medical devices, semiconductor fabrication, image processing, and software and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.Prior to joining Morrison Foerster, Cristina was an engineer at a biotech startup, where she developed acoustic wave-based cell sorting devices. In that role, she designed printed circuit boards (PCBs) and wrote firmware to control microfluidic components, contributing to the advancement of lab-on-a-chip technologies.
Cristina is currently pursuing her J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center. She holds dual B.S. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Biomedical Engineering from Duke University. During her undergraduate studies, she interned with a medical device company’s endoscopy division and a pharmaceuticals manufacturing firm, gaining hands-on experience in regulated product development and manufacturing processes.
