Ellaina Sanders is an associate in Morrison Foerster’s Patent Strategy + Prosecution Group, based in the firms Washington, D.C. office.
Prior to joining Morrison Foerster as an associate, Ellaina worked as a law clerk and summer associate in the firm’s Patent Prosecution group, where she assisted with Office Action responses, drafted patent applications for software systems, and advised clients on prosecution options. Before law school, Ellaina worked as an associate software engineer at a technology company, where she investigated and resolved issues affecting online products and collaborated across engineering teams. She also worked on feature development for an educational technology platform, producing technical reports and presenting results to company representatives. She has also authored a legal publication examining patent enablement requirements in the biotechnology space, demonstrating her ability to address complex questions at the intersection of law, science, and technology.
Ellaina earned her J.D. magna cum laude from American University Washington College of Law, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif, and her B.S. in computer science and mathematics from Harvey Mudd College.
