Emily focuses her work on patent drafting and prosecution, with an emphasis on oncology, immunology, and pathology.

Emily is an immunologist with seven years of experience leading biomedical research involving antibodies and innovative treatments. She has an established record of publications with more than 17 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, including five as first author. Prior to joining MoFo, Emily was a scientific writer at the American Pet Cancer Foundation, where she researched and wrote a variety of articles related to animal oncology.

Emily earned her B.S. in biology from Wheaton College and her Ph.D. in infectious diseases, immunology, and pathology from the University of Southern California – Keck School of Medicine. As a graduate student at the University of Southern California, Emily led research resulting in the identification of three novel inflammatory regulators of group 2 innate lymphoid cells impacting the development of allergic asthma and metastatic melanoma. She also served as a teaching assistant for the graduate USC Immunology course, covering immunology, T and B cell immunity, and antigens.

Emily previously served as a research assistant at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center – Harvard School of Medicine, where she led research focusing on mechanisms of eosinophil functions in human and mouse blood and intestinal tissues. She was also an assistant scientist at Product Pharmaceutical Development Inc., where she performed a variety of sample analysis procedures to measure pharmaceutical compounds in a variety of formulations.
