Dr. Garreth McCrudden is an associate in Morrison Foerster’s San Francisco office and a member of the firm’s Patent Strategy + Prosecution Group.

Garreth’s practice focuses on patent drafting, strategy, and prosecution for clients in the chemical and pharmaceutical fields.

Garreth earned his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. At graduation, he was awarded the Thelen Marrin Prize for his paper on intellectual property and administrative law.

Prior to law school, Garreth was a postdoctoral scholar at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where he led experiments generating entangled photons to study light absorption during photosynthesis.

Garreth completed his undergraduate and doctoral degrees in chemistry at the University of Oxford. His research focused on a combined experimental and theoretical study of the energy transfer processes that take place during individual non-reactive atom-molecule collisions. Garreth’s research experience includes technical training in laser physics, ultra-high vacuum systems, and computational gas-phase reaction dynamics.

Garreth maintains an active pro bono practice, with a particular focus on immigration-related matters. He is fluent in Spanish.
