James Mack is an associate in Morrison Foerster’s Intellectual Property Group, where he represents clients in complex patent, trade secret, and copyright disputes in federal district courts, and before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and the International Trade Commission.
James has experience across a broad range of technology and engineering industries, including semiconductors, consumer electronics, imaging, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), wireless communications, medical devices, aerospace, and automotive technologies.
Before joining Morrison Foerster, James was an associate at another leading international law firm, where he litigated technology disputes involving semiconductor and imaging technologies, medical devices, and wireless communications. He also counseled clients on patent prosecution and portfolio management.
Prior to his legal career, James worked as a scientist at Applied Materials, focusing on research and development in the semiconductor capital equipment industry, and is an inventor on multiple patent families.
James earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School. He also holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering with a minor in electrical engineering and an M.S. in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford University, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Clemson University.
James is admitted to practice in California as well as the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
