Jonathan Smith is an associate in the Litigation Department of Morrison Foerster’s Boston office.

Jonathan served as a summer associate at Morrison Foerster, where he drafted memoranda on legal issues related to cryptocurrencies, the False Claims Act, artificial intelligence, and trade secrets.

While in law school, Jonathan served as a research assistant to the Honorable Nancy Gertner (Ret.), former United Stated District Court Judge for the District of Massachusetts, where he researched issues related to vindictive and selective criminal prosecutions. He also spent several semesters as a student clinician, drafting complaints and dispositive motions in federal litigation. During his 1L summer, Jonathan interned in the Civil Rights Unit of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Boston, where he researched algorithmic bias in automated decision-making concerning applications for housing, evaluated potential Fair Housing Act and ADA violations, and assisted in assessing matters for DOJ investigation.

Before law school, Jonathan was an analyst at a technology company, focusing on trade issues and international antidumping investigations.

Jonathan earned his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School and his B.A. magna cum laude in economics from Boston University.
