Katie Molyneux is an associate in the Litigation Department of Morrison Foerster’s San Francisco office and a member of the firm’s Securities Litigation Group.

Katie represents corporations and their officers and directors in securities class actions, derivative suits, and other complex commercial litigation. Her experience includes defending claims arising under the Securities Act of 1933, the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and state common law, including breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty claims.

Katie also represents public and private companies in government-facing investigations involving disclosure issues and fraud allegations. She has represented clients across a range of industries, including financial services, technology, healthcare, and consumer products.

Katie is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where she was the web content editor of the California Law Review. While in law school, she served as senior supervising editor of the Berkeley Journal of Criminal Law and membership co-chair of Womxn of Berkeley Law. Katie received her B.A. summa cum laude in political science and communication studies from UCLA.

Representative Experience

  • Represented Cloudera and certain of its officers and directors in securities class actions in California federal and state court. Won motion to dismiss in federal court, which was upheld on appeal. Won motion for summary judgment as to all claims in state court.
  • Representing former CFO in an SEC lawsuit arising out of accounting restatement.
  • Representing a cryptocurrency exchange platform in responding to SEC, CFTC, and state attorney general subpoenas and other requests for information.
  • Represented a major tech company in an SEC investigation focused on AI-related disclosures and policies.
