Michael Brown is an associate in Morrison Foerster’s Boston’s office and a member of the firm’s Real Estate Group.

Michael focuses his practice on commercial real estate finance and capital markets transactions, representing financial institutions, private equity firms, mezzanine lenders, special servicers, and other market participants in complex lending, restructuring, and workout matters.

He assists clients with traditional and structured commercial real estate finance transactions involving multifamily, office, retail, industrial, hospitality, and mixed-use properties. He regularly advises secured lenders on distressed debt matters, loan restructurings, intercreditor arrangements, and the enforcement of creditor remedies.

Michael has represented lenders and special servicers in significant commercial real estate workouts and litigation, including restructurings involving multimillion-dollar secured loans, REMIC trusts, and geographically diverse commercial real estate portfolios. His experience includes overseeing commercial foreclosures, negotiating forbearance and modification agreements, advising on bankruptcy proceedings and receiverships, defending lenders against preference actions, and representing creditors in state and federal courts.

Michael earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School and his B.A. in political science from the College of Charleston. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and Vermont, with New York admission pending.
