Michael Kniffen is Assistant General Counsel to Morrison Foerster. He advises the firm on legal ethics, risk management, and other professional responsibility and compliance issues.

Before joining the Office of General Counsel, Michael was a litigator in the Firm's Securities Litigation, Enforcement, and White Collar practice group. His practice encompassed all aspects of business litigation at the trial and appellate levels, with an emphasis on internal investigations and antitrust counseling. He represented clients in criminal and administrative investigations brought by the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other enforcement agencies in Asia and Europe.

Before joining Morrison & Foerster, Michael held a two-year clerkship under Chief Judge Emerita Alicemarie H. Stotler, United States District Court for the Central District of California.

Michael received his J.D. from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law. He received his LL.M. from the London School of Economics, where he specialized in international business law.
