Omar Marawi is an associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation Group, based in the Austin office. Omar leverages his experience as a physical design engineer, validation engineer, and software engineer at a leading semiconductor technology company to guide clients in patent litigation. He has represented clients across a range of industries, including in matters related to cellular communication standards, data processing, Bluetooth, smartphones, medical implants, poultry processing, and oil and gas. Clients have relied on Omar to understand complex technology and distill it into a form presentable to the courts.

Omar has experience litigating before several Federal District Courts located in Texas and California and has been on the winning side of procedural and substantive motions in those courts. Notably, Omar has presented claims for construction, moved to strike faulty and excessive damages’ opinions, and briefed numerous Daubert challenges to expert reports.

Omar’s pro bono activities include litigating forcible entry and detainer actions on behalf of landlords and tenants before local state courts. Omar also successfully represented clients post-Hurricane Harvey in Houston after their home had been devastated and a contractor exploited their unfortunate situation.

Omar obtained his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center, where he served on the Houston Law Review.
