Rony handles a range of antitrust matters, with a particular focus on global cartel cases and follow-on civil damages litigation. He also has extensive experience counseling companies on strategic M&A, various types of collaboration agreements, and matters at the intersection of IP & Antitrust.

Representative Experience

Rony has represented clients in numerous global cartel investigations involving EU, U.S., Japanese, Korean, and other enforcement authorities. He has also managed follow-on litigation in various EU member states, including The Netherlands and Germany, and the United Kingdom. Rony has been involved in some of the most complex cartel cases of recent years, including:

In addition to his cartel practice, Rony has counseled companies on strategic M&A matters, cooperation agreements (including joint purchasing, distribution, and exclusive supply) and matters at the intersection of IP & Antitrust (including FRAND licensing terms and various patent pools). Rony has worked on a number of EU merger control cases, mostly involving high-tech industries. He recently handled the merger filings relating to Softbank's acquisition of ARM.

Rony is recommended in antitrust/competition by both the Asia Pacific and EMEA editions of The Legal 500, receiving client praise for his “strong, strategic advice.”

EU Cartel Investigations for various Multinationals.

Represented companies in several cartel investigations in Europe, including lysine, flat glass & car glass, freight forwarding, cathode ray tubes, optical disk drives, smart card chips, LCDs (small screens), auto parts, rechargeable battries and canned vegetables.

Follow-on Cartel Damage Actions for Various Multinationals.

Representing defendants in follow-on damage cases relating to cathode ray tubes and rechargeable batteries in various juridictions in Europe, including Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

SoftBank’s $31.4 billion acquisition of ARM Holdings.

Represented SoftBank in its £24.3 billion ($31.4 billion) acquisition of UK-based semiconductor and software design company ARM Holdings. The transaction was the largest ever cross-border acquisition by a Japanese company (and the largest ever cash acquisition of a UK company).
