Sheryl focuses her practice on internal and government-facing investigations, white collar defense matters, regulatory and global compliance, including compliance due diligence for corporate transactions, as well as complex commercial disputes. Sheryl has particular experience in matters involving Asia.

Prior to joining Morrison Foerster, Sheryl was a Deputy Public Prosecutor/ State Counsel in the Criminal Justice Division, Financial and Technology Crime Division, and the Advocacy Group of the Singapore Attorney-General’s Chambers, where she served as the lead prosecutor and state counsel on a wide variety of financial crime and regulatory matters, and successfully argued a number of cases before the High Court of the Republic of Singapore.

Leveraging her former government experience, Sheryl advises clients in investigations and white collar defense matters alleging fraud, corruption (including violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA)), money laundering, sanctions violations, intellectual property theft and regulatory non-compliance, among other areas. She has particular expertise in multijurisdictional matters, often involving both U.S. and non-U.S. regulators, and has experience in almost every major jurisdiction in Asia including Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Sheryl received her Bachelor of Laws from University College London (UCL), and her Master of Laws in International Legal Studies from New York University School of Law (NYU). She participated in the Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition teams at both UCL and NYU. Sheryl is admitted to the bar in New York and Singapore. She is fluent in English and Bahasa Melayu, and conversant in Malayalam.
