Steve Sundberg is a Senior Patent Agent in the San Francisco Office. His practice is focused on patent prosecution, portfolio management, and IP due diligence for early-stage and established corporate clients in the life science, biopharmaceutical, medical device, clinical diagnostics, and clean tech industries. His patent prosecution experience includes work on optical detection and imaging technologies, microfluidic devices and systems, bioassay technologies, nucleic acid sequencing technologies, bioinformatics algorithms, and machine learning techniques (as applied to digital pathology and image analysis, analysis of nucleic acid sequencing data, genomics database mining, and protein structural modeling).

Steve received his Bachelor’s degree in physics and Ph.D. in biophysics from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to transitioning to intellectual property law in 2014, he worked as an R&D scientist, R&D manager, and technical consultant in the life science, pharmaceutical, and clinical diagnostics industries. He is an inventor on 39 issued U.S. patents.
