Sydney Schauer is an associate in Morrison Foerster’s National Security Group.
Sydney brings more than a decade of experience at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where she advised the then-FBI Director and other senior FBI, Department of Justice (DOJ), and Intelligence Community (IC) leaders on some of the most pressing national security, counterterrorism, and law enforcement matters, coordinated high-stakes briefings on sensitive topics within the Executive Branch, and engaged with intelligence, law enforcement, and private sector partners around the globe. Prior to joining the Firm, she served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia, where she prosecuted domestic violence, crimes against children, and sex offense cases.
During her tenure at the FBI, Sydney held roles in the Office of the Director, the National Security Branch, and the Counterterrorism Division, where she worked on critical operations, crisis response, and congressional testimony, and coordinated equities and communications for stakeholders across the Bureau. She also deployed to Guantanamo Bay as an FBI liaison to the military commissions. She is a recipient of the Director’s Exceptional Performance Award from multiple offices during her time at the Bureau.
Sydney earned her B.A. cum laude from Georgetown University, her M.A. in securities studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was selected as a Public Interest Fellow.
