Tal Wolf is a Complex Litigation attorney in Morrison Foerster’s San Diego office. He is a member of the national coordinating counsel team defending products liability lawsuits for one of the largest companies in the world.

Tal has over 25 years of experience leading all phases of litigation, from attacking the pleadings to conducting tactical discovery, to handling advanced motion practice and summary judgment, to bringing scientific and medical expertise to bear in cases with substantial operational challenges, to developing ADR strategy and meticulously preparing cases for final adjudication. Between depositions and trials, Tal has cross-examined nearly a thousand witnesses, including plaintiffs and “percipients,” treating physicians, nationally renowned medical specialists, and blue-chip corporate officers. His performance oftentimes has become an identifiable inflection point in the breakdown [GC1] of his opponent’s case.

Before joining Morrison Foerster, Tal engaged in a variety of legal work. He completed a federal judicial externship, spent several years in the commercial/franchise litigation group of a Texas-based Am Law 50 national law corporation, ran a boutique civil and felony trial practice in Los Angeles, and served as a senior counsel and mediator in the high-net-worth asset division for one of Canada’s top family law firms. He also defended a wide range of civil claims on behalf of Fortune 500 companies, nationwide franchisors, privately owned chains, small businesses, and individuals in various statutory, common law, and contractual matters in the state and federal courts of California.

Tal has tried several dozen cases to verdict before civil and criminal juries. He achieved successes against career homicide prosecutors in trials that had been written off as “hopeless.” Believing strongly in giving back to his community through pro bono work, Tal continues to serve as judge pro tem for the Superior Court of California in Riverside County, in cases of limited or special jurisdiction. He has presided over hundreds of contested hearings across several Southern California counties during his pro bono career.

Tal’s comfort in the courtroom and his experience on both sides of the bench inform how he builds his cases. From evaluating liability, causation, damage claims, and witness testimony, to strategizing on expert-intensive

discovery, he determines each move with a view towards shaping the likely trial outcome, maximizing settlement leverage for his clients.
