Dr. Wei Tang is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Her practice focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, portfolio analyses and management, and due diligence reviews. She has expertise in chemistry, nanomaterials, and pharmaceuticals as well as a broad knowledge of biotechnology and medical devices.

Dr. Tang’s experience includes managing patent portfolios for universities, start-ups, as well as large companies; assisting in counseling clients in developing patent strategies; and providing assistance on licensing matters. She has also performed landscaping analyses and freedom-to-operate assessments, and participated in strategy formulation for litigation.

Dr. Tang’s doctoral research involved design, synthesis, and characterization of multi-functionalized polymeric nanoparticles for diagnosis and therapy of cancer. She also co-developed submicron fiber optic sensors to monitor cellular oxygen oscillation. She received her Ph.D. and M.S. in chemistry from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and her B.S. in chemistry, with highest honors, from Xiamen University, China.

Dr. Tang is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.  She is a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese.
