Dr. Wei Tang is an associate in Morrison Foerster’s San Francisco office and a member of the firm’s Patent Strategy and Prosecution Group.

Wei focuses her practice on patent portfolio management and IP due diligence, with an emphasis on matters involving chemistry and pharmaceuticals. She has more than a decade of experience in patent drafting and prosecution, working closely with domestic and international clients on life sciences technologies and products at different stages of development and commercialization.

Wei handles all phases of drafting and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications for a variety of clients including pharmaceutical companies, biotech startups, and academic institutions. She manages global patent portfolios, conducts freedom-to-operate and invalidity analyses, and assists with IP issues in technology transactions. In addition, she supports litigation teams with patent reviews and infringement analyses.

Wei received her Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and her B.S. in chemistry from Xiamen University. She received her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law.
