Akari is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department and a member of the firm’s Securities Litigation and Investigations + White Collar Defense Groups. She is experienced in advising clients undergoing internal and government-led investigations, as well as representing clients in complex commercial and intellectual property litigation. Akari defends clients in matters relating to patent licensing, joint ventures, and strategic transactions, across federal and state courts as well as arbitration proceedings seated in common law and civil law jurisdictions under the rules of the ICC, JCAA, and JAMS.
In addition to representing clients in adversarial matters, Akari’s experience includes representing companies and industry participants in internal investigations and SEC investigations, including those involving whistleblower claims and accounting and disclosure issues. She also serves as personal counsel for executives and directors in government and internal investigations. She represents clients in a broad range of industries, including telecommunications, data storage, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, manufacturing, haptics, and consumer goods.
Akari has an active pro bono practice and has been awarded the State Bar of California’s Wiley W. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services on multiple occasions.
Akari earned her B.A. in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from St Hilda’s College, Oxford University in 2006 and her JD, cum laude, from the New York University School of Law in 2013, where she was a Notes Editor for the New York University Law Review.
