Alex Kaufman is a partner in Morrison & Foerster’s Palo Alto office and is a member of the firm’s Mergers + Acquisitions and Private Equity Investments + Buyouts Groups.

Mr. Kaufman focuses his practice on advising private equity funds, their portfolio companies and standalone technology companies on a broad range of corporate transactions, including leveraged buyouts, growth equity investments and divestitures. He has significant experience advising investors and issuers in a range of industries, with an emphasis on the software and technology sectors.  His clients have included many of the leading technology-focused buyout and growth equity funds in the Bay Area, including Francisco Partners, Sumeru Equity Partners and TA Associates.

Mr. Kaufman graduated, with honors, from the Emory University School of Law in 2007, where he served as the senior editor of the Emory International Law Review, president of the Jewish Law Students Association and senior advisor to the Federalist Society. He was also selected to the Student Dean Search Advisory Committee and as a student representative to the Faculty Hiring Committee.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003.

Mr. Kaufman volunteers as a judge for the Halloum Negotiation and Business Competition at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) and the Haas School of Business.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Kaufman was a partner in the private equity / M&A group of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. He was previously an associate in the private equity / M&A group of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP.
