Ali Assareh is an associate in the firm’s Corporate Group in the San Francisco office. Mr. Assareh’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and general corporate matters.

In his M&A practice, Mr. Assareh has advised financial institutions, serial acquirers (particularly in the tech sector), and strategic buyers and sellers in both public and private transactions. He has worked on leveraged acquisitions, divestitures, asset acquisitions, stock acquisitions, mergers, auction transactions, and cross-border transactions across a wide range of industries, including technology, finance, entertainment, transportation, telecommunications, retail, and aerospace.

In his general corporate practice, Mr. Assareh has advised start-up and technology companies since formation in matters including venture capital financing, debt financing, and equity incentive compensation.  He has also represented venture capital firms and strategic corporate investors in their investments in start-up companies.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Assareh worked at a major New York City law firm, where he represented banks and financial institutions, including J.P. Morgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, and CitiGroup, in syndicated lending and leveraged finance transactions.

Mr. Assareh earned his J.D., cum laude, from the New York University School of Law, where he was an articles editor of the New York University Law Review and co-president of the Middle Eastern Law Students Association. In pursuit of his J.D., Mr. Assareh was a recipient of the Weinfeld Prize for Scholarship in Procedure and Courts, awarded by the Dean for distinguished scholarship in the area of civil procedure, evidence, and trial practice.

Mr. Assareh is fluent in Farsi and conversational in Arabic and Japanese.
