Allison Lauterbach Dale, a member of the firm’s Privacy + Data Security Group, helps technology companies and other cross-industry leaders manage data protection risks and develop comprehensive, practical programs that balance legal compliance and commercial realities. With extensive experience in intellectual property matters and complex technology transactions, Allison also provides invaluable insights into the privacy and data security implications of joint development projects and mergers and acquisitions.

Allison is counseling numerous clients on compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018—the most significant privacy legislation in U.S. history—by updating their privacy policies and disclosures and advising on the Act’s operational impact. She has also advised clients on EU General Data Protection Regulation compliance, including the incorporation of principles of privacy by design, and has conducted privacy diligence for clients’ mergers and acquisitions.

Allison received her Ph.D. in history from the University of Southern California, where she specialized in 20th and 21st century U.S. legal and political history, with a primary focus on reproductive health. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley – School of Law (Boalt Hall), where she served as the symposium editor of the Berkeley Journal of Gender, Law & Justice. She also holds an M.A. from the University of Southern California and a B.A. from Brown University.

Prior to joining the firm, Allison worked as an extern for the Honorable Jacqueline Scott Corley, Magistrate judge in the Northern District of California.
