Amy Larsen is an associate in Morrison & Foerster’s Global Risk and Crisis Management practice and a member of the firm’s National Security and Privacy and Data Security Groups. Amy’s practice focuses on advising clients on sensitive matters relating to cybersecurity, data privacy, and national security, as well as on other complex regulatory and government-facing matters, including multijurisdictional investigations, anti-corruption reviews, congressional investigations, and pandemic response. Additionally, she helps clients develop comprehensive, practical responses to a wide range of risks and on strategies to capitalize on both traditional and novel opportunities.
Amy draws on significant private and public sector experience counseling clients on a broad array of corporate, security, technology, regulatory, and policy matters. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, she worked at a national law firm where she advised private funds and other clients on cross-border and U.S. technology transactions, as well as other mergers and acquisitions, and counseled on cybersecurity and cryptocurrency. Previously, Amy worked on the U.S. foreign affairs budget while on a fellowship in Congress, served at the State Department’s U.S. Mission to the EU in Brussels where she focused on global trade, sanctions, and speechwriting, and was awarded a Fulbright to South Korea. Earlier in her career, she held an internship at the White House in the Office of then-Vice President Joe Biden.
Amy received her J.D. from NYU School of Law, where she served as staff editor of the Moot Court Board and as president of the American Constitution Society. During law school, she interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of New York. Amy earned her M.P.A. from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and her B.A. magna cum laude in Political Science from Yale College.
Amy is an Aspen Security Scholar and a partner in the Truman National Security Project. She currently serves on the board of the New York Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society and on the advisory board of Govern for America.
Amy co-founded Foresight2020, a nonpartisan cyber defense and preparedness training for political candidates and their staff, and recently published “Foresight, Hindsight, and the Merits of a Comprehensive Approach to Protecting Political Campaigns from Cyber Attacks,” in the New York University Journal of Legislation and Public Policy.Show More
