Angela Kleine is a member of the Financial Services Litigation Group, resident in the San Francisco office. Her practice focuses on complex civil litigation and enforcement, with an emphasis on defending and advising financial services companies in matters under banking, fair lending, consumer reporting, and unfair and deceptive acts and practices (UDAP) laws and regulations. Ms. Kleine has experience litigating and advising on matters under the Fair Housing Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and state equivalents, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Truth in Lending Act, and state unfair practices statutes, including California’s Consumer Legal Remedies Act and Unfair Competition Law. Ms. Kleine also has experience conducting internal investigations on behalf of companies, boards of directors, and audit and special committees.
Ms. Kleine has written on issues related to fair lending and consumer reporting litigation and enforcement. She is a co-editor of the MoFo ReEnforcement Blog and editor of the Mortgage and Fair Lending section of the firm’s Financial Services Report. In 2014, she was named to MReport Magazine’s “Thirty-Five Under 35” list, recognizing thirty-five women under the age of 35 as rising stars in the mortgage banking industry. She is also recommended by Legal 500 US 2016. Ms. Kleine received her J.D. with honors from New York University School of Law, where she was a member of the Environmental Law Review, a Florence Allen Scholar, and the winner of the Leonard J. Schreier Memorial Prize in Ethics. She earned a B.A. in biology with honors from the University of Chicago, where she was a Howard Hughes Undergraduate Research Fellow and National Science Foundation grant recipient.

Mortgage Consumer Reporting Class ActionsWon dismissal of multiple putative class actions around the country asserting novel FCRA claims related to loan modification applications, bankruptcy, and national bank’s furnishing of consumer credit information. Successfully defended dismissal in the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
