Aramide Fields is a senior associate in the Tokyo Litigation Department. She possesses a unique combination of experience, having served as in-house counsel, practiced law in U.S. state and federal courts, and represented clients in complex international disputes and internal investigations. Her practice focuses on commercial litigation and arbitration, as well as conducting internal investigations related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, antitrust, anti-corruption, and anti-money laundering. Ms. Fields has significant experience with complex issues in multijurisdictional disputes and conduct occurring in Japan and across the Asia Pacific region, including Korea, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, and Malaysia.
Ms. Fields has experience in a broad range of litigation matters, including product liability, commercial litigation, intellectual property, and false advertising disputes. Ms. Fields has represented clients in a variety of industries, such as pharmaceutical, medical device, electronics, semiconductors, nutritional supplement, consumer product, transportation, and banking and financial services, among others.
In 2011, the firm selected Ms. Fields for a secondment to the legal department of a U.S. subsidiary of a European company that manufactures medical devices, pharmaceutical products, and consumer products in the eye-care industry. She provided legal guidance on promotional materials and competitive advertising challenges. Ms. Fields also advised on product liability issues related to litigation, product safety, and product recalls.
Ms. Fields has also worked in the firm’s San Diego office, where she represented clients in U.S. state and federal courts and handled various procedural aspects of cases, including court hearings, motion practice, pretrial work, and settlement. In 2015 she was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in the area of Civil Litigation. Ms. Fields serves on the Executive Committee of the Women In Law Japan.
Ms. Fields received her B.A. with high distinction from the University of Virginia in 2001. She received her J.D. with pro bono distinction from Stanford Law School in 2005. Ms. Fields is admitted to practice in California.
