Ariel Francisco Ruiz is an associate in the San Francisco office of Morrison & Foerster LLP. He also heads Morrison & Foerster's NY LGBT Affinity Group.
Mr. Ruiz’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation. He has practiced in both federal and state court, and has experience with all stages of trial and pre-trial practice. He has represented major technology companies, financial institutions, a telecommunications company, an accounting firm, and a commercial manufacturing and supply company, among others. Mr. Ruiz has litigated patent infringement disputes, a class-action antitrust suit, a product liability dispute, breach of contract disputes, and various other types of cases. He has also represented both companies and individuals in government investigations.
Additionally, Mr. Ruiz maintains an active pro bono practice, including representing same-sex couples seeking to secure benefits and protections afforded to married couples in Montana, indigent criminal defendants pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act, and students seeking to protect their right to an education.
Mr. Ruiz received his J.D. from Cornell Law School, where he was Articles Editor of the Cornell International Law Journal. While in law school, Mr. Ruiz participated in Cornell Law School’s Death Penalty Clinic, where he assisted with the representation of foreign nationals under sentence of death in Texas.
