Ashley Boyoung Yeum is an associate in Morrison & Foerster’s Patent Group and is based in the firm’s Northern Virginia office. Ms. Yeum has experience in a wide range of intellectual property matters, including: drafting and prosecuting U.S., PCT, and foreign patent applications; managing domestic and international patent prosecution dockets; conducting IP due diligence in association with various corporate transactions; and rendering litigation, reexamination, and interference support. Her clients range from some of the largest international industry leaders to early stage start ups.
Ms. Yeum’s practice includes semiconductor-related technologies, with an emphasis on optics and LEDs. Ms. Yeum has handled a number of U.S. and foreign patent applications and IP portfolios directed to LEDs, light image projection apparatuses, LED drive circuits, illumination assemblies, LED substrates, waveguides, etc.
Ms. Yeum’s practice further includes, but is not limited to, motors for vacuum cleaners and hand dryers, user-interface technologies for various touch-sensitive surfaces and displays, financial trading systems, network and database management and business methods, MFPs, optical pickup devices, and medical devices. In particular, Ms. Yeum has handled patent dockets protecting different aspects of body composition analyzers and smart beds for hospitals.
Ms. Yeum received her B.S. cum laude, in electrical engineering, with a minor in biomedical engineering, from Duke University. Ms. Yeum received her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Ms. Yeum is fluent in Korean.
