Bela Karmel’s practice is focused on cybersecurity and privacy counseling and issues, and she has experience with helping clients draft court briefs and memoranda to enforce the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA). In addition, Bela holds two information privacy professional certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP): Certified Information Privacy Professional CIPP/US (United States – private sector), and CIPP/E (Europe).
Bela also has substantial knowledge and hands-on experience of intellectual property matters, having previously worked on trademark and copyright prosecution, enforcement, and counseling. She has also worked on EU-wide copyright legislation as a Legal and Policy Officer at the European Commission, and contributed to opinions before the Court of Justice of the European Union.
Bela has written articles on intellectual property and technology law issues for the Berkeley Technology Law Journal, European Intellectual Property Review, and Sciences Po Paris Law Review.Show More
