Celeste focuses her work on patent drafting and assisting prosecution, patent analysis, and patent due diligence, with an emphasis on biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Celeste Alvarez teamed up with IP attorneys to analyze pharmaceutical patent litigation for investors. Her responsibilities included characterizing patents by point of novelty and analyzing District Court, Federal Circuit, and PTAB proceedings.
Celeste also has experience as a medical writer. Focusing on pharmaceutical products with neurological indications, she has worked with pharma product teams to create a wide variety of custom scientific communication assets, including electronic magazines and slide decks for both educational and promotional purposes.
Celeste earned her Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she focused her research on reducing the renal toxicity of an FDA-approved formulation of the antifungal drug amphotericin B. She applied physical characterization tools and preclinical toxicity and efficacy testing to develop a reformulation that exhibited improved stability, reduced renal toxicity, and enhanced efficacy in vitro and in rodent models.
