Christian is a senior associate at Morrison & Foerster’s German office in Berlin. As a member of our Finance Team, he advises clients on syndicated loans, debt issuances and banking supervisory law.

Christian has extensive expertise in advising bank syndicates and issuers in connection with establishing and updating debt issuance programs, issuances of euro-bonds, convertible bonds and regulatory capital (AT1, Tier 2, MREL), assignable loans and registered bonds. Further, he has experience in setting up German branches of foreign banks, Master Agreements for Derivatives (ISDA, DRV, CRV) as well as advising banks and issuers in connection with MAR, MiFID II and PRIIPs.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Christian worked at a major international law firm in Frankfurt for several years. He holds an LL.M. from Cornell University, a Master of Science in business administration from Freie Universität Berlin and wrote his Ph.D. thesis about the regulation of financial derivatives.

  • Banks at alstria office’s euro-bond issuances and Tender Offer
  • German regional bank at issuance of AT1 and Tier 2 bonds (mandatory convertible and write-up/write-down instruments)
  • Banks at various debt issuance programs (e.g. DAX, M-DAX and S-DAX listed companies) and corresponding trades under these programs
  • Banks and borrowers at high volume assignable loan transactions
  • Banks at Steinhoff’s euro-bond issuance
  • Major Swiss Bank in BREXT driven restructuring of internal regulatory capital (AT1, Tier 2, MREL)
