Christopher C. McKinnon is an associate in the Corporate Department of Morrison & Foerster’s Palo Alto office. His practice focuses on corporate transactions including the formation of venture capital and private equity funds, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financings and corporate governance.

Mr. McKinnon represents both institutional investors and fund sponsors in connection with the formation of, and investments in, venture capital funds, funds of funds and other private equity funds. On behalf of private equity and venture capital funds, their portfolio companies and other companies, banks and institutions, he advises in the mergers and acquisitions of, venture and growth equity investments in, tender offers and secondary transactions relating to and divestitures of target companies. He also represents startup companies from formation to fundraising and through exit.

Mr. McKinnon earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2015. While in law school, he received the Lawrence Lederman Fellowship in Law & Economics and the Flora S. & Jacob L. Newman Prize for work in law and business from NYU. He also served on the Executive Board of the NYU Journal of Law & Business. Mr. McKinnon completed his undergraduate degree in Economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2012, and graduated with the highest honors and departmental honors in Economics.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. McKinnon worked as a judicial extern to the Honorable James M. Humes at the California Court of Appeal, First District.
