Cong Luo focuses her practice on patent prosecution and counseling, including: drafting and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications; patent portfolio management and strategy; IP landscape analysis; and litigation support. She works with clients across a variety of sectors, including machine learning, machine vision, user interface, software, biomedical instruments, oil and gas equipment, satellite systems, financial transactions, and various consumer goods. She is a fluent speaker of Mandarin Chinese, with a working knowledge of French and Brazilian Portuguese.
Her prior experience includes working with early-stage startups in acquiring patent protection, as well as as government and VC funding, and participating in a variety of incubators, including MassChallenge in Boston and Motor City Challenge in Detroit. During the early days of her career in Colorado, she was a wind energy engineer responsible for the design and engineering of commercial scale wind farms across the central and southern U.S.
Ms. Luo’s practice draws on her variety of research experience, including: human perception of lightness and transparency for machine vision; vaporization cooling design of gas turbine blades; studying sea surface temperature trends of the Northwest Atlantic Slope with oxygen isotope analysis and gas chromatography of soil samples; and genetic engineering of the G-Protein Gamma-5 knockout mouse with techniques including gene characterization, plasmid design, and embryonic stem cell research.
Ms. Luo received an S.B. in aeronautics and astronautics engineering from MIT, and continues her education through online courses, including the deep learning specialization on Coursera. For her free time, you may find her at the symphony or adventuring high in the mountains. She has been a classical pianist of 25 years.
