Cong Luo is a patent agent in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Her practice focuses on patent prosecution and counseling. She has experience in prosecuting utility and design applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on behalf of clients in a wide variety of fields, including mechanical, medical, biotech, energy, software and telecommunications.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Luo worked as a patent agent in law firms where she prosecuted utility and design patent applications for mechanical and medical devices. Ms. Luo also worked as an Energy Resource Engineer at Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc. (2008–2010) where she was responsible for designing wind turbine layouts, site prospecting, and energy yield analysis for commercial scale wind and solar projects. Ms. Luo has experience working alongside tech accelerators in developing technical and business aspects for a variety of start-ups in software and energy.

Ms. Luo’s research background includes evaluating vaporization cooling technology in gas turbine blades (MIT Gas Turbine Laboratory), studying human perception of lightness and transparency in materials and surfaces for machine vision engineering (MIT Brain & Cognitive Sciences) and studying sea surface temperature trends of the Northwest Atlantic Slope during the Holocene with oxygen isotope analysis and gas chromatography (MIT Earth & Planetary Sciences). She has also held a successful internship at the Geisinger Weis Research Center under Dr. Janet D. Robishaw in genetic characterization, plasmid design, and embryonic stem cell research of the G-protein Gamma 5 subunit for further study of implications in epilepsy.

Ms. Luo is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. She has a working knowledge of French and Brazilian Portuguese.
