Crystal N. Kaldjob is co-lead of our FinTech practice and a partner in the Financial Services Group of Morrison & Foerster’s Washington, D.C. office.

Crystal’s practice focuses on advising financial services clients on a wide range of issues in regulatory and transactional contexts. Crystal provides practical, solution-oriented regulatory and transactional assistance to merchants, fintech companies, banks and other financial institutions on strategic partnerships, including structuring and negotiating private label, co-brand credit card and point-of-sale financing partnerships, marketplace lending arrangements, asset purchases, and loan portfolio sales and acquisitions. Her regulatory experience involves advising financial institutions, fintech companies and merchants on compliance with consumer and retail banking laws, including laws related to the offering and operation of consumer credit and financial products and services.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Crystal worked as a financial services associate at an international law firm where she focused on transactional matters involving strategic partnerships and payments systems, as well as counseling bank and non-bank clients on state and federal banking laws.

  • Represent retailers and merchants in negotiation of a private label and co-brand credit card agreements, and advise on designing and implementing loyalty program.
  • Represent a national bank in staged transaction involving sale of portfolio and negotiations of credit card program agreements.
  • Represent an airline in the negotiation of its international co-brand credit card and card acceptance agreements.
  • Represented a national bank in the negotiation of credit card processing agreement with merchant processor.
  • Represented a retailer in the negotiation of payment processing agreement for its online marketplace.
  • Represented a national bank in the negotiation of portfolio purchase and sale agreements involving credit card receivables, student loans, and other consumer loans.
  • Advise payment facilitator on launch of checking account alternative product for its commercial customers.
  • Advise payment facilitator in negotiation of partnership with bank for commercial loan and commercial credit card offering.
  • Represent a large retailer and a bank in negotiation of point-of-sale financing offerings.
  • Counsel a national bank on structuring and regulatory considerations of bank partnership model.
  • Counsel a web services provider on the launch of social savings app.
  • Counsel a marketplace lender regarding regulatory compliance with consumer financial services laws, including state licensing and federal consumer protection laws.
  • Counsel an online lender on launch of consumer lending program, including providing advice on state licensing and compliance with federal consumer protection laws.
