Dan Burkhart is an associate in the Corporate Department of Morrison & Foerster’s Tokyo office. Dan’s practice focuses on public and private mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and related corporate transactions in a wide variety of industries.

Dan has extensive experience in both technology and energy corporate transactions, as well as project development in sectors including solar, oil and gas, mining, and LNG. Recently, Dan has advised multiple inbound clients in the development, construction, operation, and finance of Japan hyperscale data centers.

Dan also served a yearlong secondment at the Tokyo headquarters of a leading Japanese trading house, where he was foreign counsel to the energy and automotive investment divisions.

Dan received his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor of the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy. Dan received his B.A. summa cum laude at the University of Dayton. After law school, Dan served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable F. Dennis Saylor IV, currently the chief U.S. District Judge of the U.S. District of Massachusetts.

Dan is admitted to practice in New York and Ohio. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Dan worked at leading law firms in Ohio and Tokyo.
