Dr. David Chan is a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. His practice focuses on patent prosecution, IP due diligence, and portfolio strategy in the areas of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Chan earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where he graduated top 10 in his class and was elected to the Order of the Coif. He was also recognized with Masin Family Academic Excellence Gold Awards in Intellectual Property Law and three other courses for the best performances.

Prior to law school, Dr. Chan worked as a post-doctoral fellow at UCLA School of Medicine, where he studied stem cells and diabetes.

Dr. Chan received his Ph.D. in molecular, cell, and developmental biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, where his research focused on pluripotent stem cells, human development and regenerative medicine. He is the author of several scientific publications on stem cell differentiation and human development, and has presented his research at national and international conferences. He holds a B.S., summa cum laude, in biological sciences from the University of California, Irvine, where he was awarded Excellence in Research for his published work on virus reactivation.

Dr. Chan is admitted to practice in California and is fluent in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese).
