Mr. Thoreson received his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 2015, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review. He was also a member of the semi-finalist team awarded Best Brief at the Williams Institute Moot Court competition at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2014. He was the recipient of the Dean’s Scholar Prize in Civil Procedure, Legislation & Regulation, and Torts; in First-Year Legal Research and Writing; and in Constitutional Law: First Amendment.

Prior to his employment at Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Thoreson worked as a law clerk for the American Civil Liberties Union, LGBT & AIDS Project. He also worked as a Research Associate for D. E. Shaw & Co., a global investment and technology development firm.

Mr. Thoreson is admitted to practice law in California. He has accepted a clerkship with the Honorable Judge M. Margaret McKeown, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, for the 2017-2018 term.
