David P. Zins is an associate in the firm’s Employment and Labor Practice Group in the Los Angeles office.
David is an experienced advisor to employers and regularly litigates employment disputes in various federal and state courts and agencies. He is also a seasoned human resources professional.
David has expertise in advising and defending employers in wage-and-hour matters arising under federal law and the laws of various states, including California, with an emphasis on class, collective and other forms of complex litigation. He also practices in all areas of employment law and regularly represents and defends employers facing a variety of other employment-related claims, from alleged Sarbanes-Oxley whistleblower retaliation to discrimination based on race, sex, and other characteristics.
Before law school, David worked for a number of years as a human resources professional in private industry. In addition to managing all aspects of HR, David was responsible for ensuring compliance with the full range of employment laws.
David graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was honored with the Dean’s Scholar Prizes in Labor Law, Employment Law, and Immigration and Refugee Advocacy. He was active in the Harvard Mediation Program and completed an internship at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in Boston. He also successfully represented a gay Brazilian client seeking asylum in the United States.
David received a B.A. summa cum laude from Wake Forest University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and was honored with a Carswell Scholarship and a National Merit Scholarship. David also completed a German language and literature study-abroad program at the Universität-Lüneburg.
David is a certified mediator in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
